Kaburi Irimi Kamae is a variation of the stance Gedan no Kamae where the rear hand is held above the head for protection.  This stance is used for cutting kiriage with the naginata.

"This painting was created with a mix of ink and watercolor.  Shimizu Nobuko Sensei has visited our iaido dojo here on Maui and she belongs to the Ryouen-ryu Naginatajustu style of Naginata.
